After many years of attempts to provide a much-needed Police Department Facility, Trident was instrumental in working with town officials and the Salem Police Department’s Chief, Deputy Chief, and members of the Department to receive town voter approval.
Built on the site of the existing station, the Police Department was moved to 21A Cross Street, the home of the Town DPW, to allow for an unencumbered site, saving time and money for the Project. Renovations and improvements were made at that facility, which will be turned over to the DPW when the Police Department moves into its new facility. Trident has utilized this method to enhance an existing Town asset for temporary use, rather than using trailers or leasing, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used in their best interest.

The new facility will be a two-story building with a separate Training Facility and K-9/Storage Outbuilding.
Chief Joel Dolan remarked, “This is truly a humbling moment. As we gather on this historic ground, I’m reminded that over 60 years ago our forefathers stood right here with a vision for public safety and community service. This site was originally chosen in the early 1960s as a location for a modern police station. I am proud that our current town members have chosen to honor that legacy by keeping the station here.”
“This project is decades in the making that reflects not just the current needs, but a long-standing values and visions of the future of this community. The need for a new facility started over 50 years ago,” Devine said at the event, speaking to several members of the community. “Today we are building a modern purpose-driven police station, a space designed not for today but for decades to come. The new station will not only enhance the day-to-day operations and improve working conditions, it will also bring us into industry compliance and standards and reinforce our commitment to public safety and community service. We want to thank the town staff who worked tirelessly and their commitment to seeing this through. I want to thank the members of the Salem Police Department. Thank you for your patience, your professionalism and your unshakable service to the community. This building is for you. It’s more than bricks and mortar, it’s a message that we hear you, and value you.”
