Methuen, MA
The origin of the Methuen High School project commenced in meetings in 2008 to discuss steps in obtaining a statement of needs, financing options, budget, phasing and schedule data for the various and myriad of tasks required to make the much- needed project a reality.
The 364,000 SF renovation and addition project broke ground on July 12, 2011 with substantial completion in 2014, all while educational, sports, and student life activities continued with minimal disruption. The freshman class was moved to a former school that was home to the School Department but transformed into classrooms. The School Department was moved to the former City Hall. Both enabling projects resulted in added value for the existing facilities while providing swing space for the High School project.
The new High School has been received to accolades by students, staff and administration. New energy efficient and natural light facilities for learning, maker space, performing arts center, etc. will position the school for future generations of learning.
